working again after 4 years

i love going to work. it makes me feel so valuable for what i have accomplished as a stay-at-home mom. at this shalom center where i've been working for two days there is a full-time cook. this cook works from 7:30 until 15:30 everyday. he is in the kitchen for all those hours. he feeds 6-10 people cereal and fruit for breakfast. he then cooks a large meal for lunch. today he fixed parmesan chicken, angel hair pasta, zucchini, rolls and salad. he fixes something for dinner and leaves it in the fridge for the residents to reheat. he is in charge of cleaning the kitchen and doing the grocery shopping as well. and that's his entire job and he gets paid for it. no children to teach or bathe or dress or hold or watch or play with. no laundry to wash, fold and put away. no floors to vacuum. no finances to figure. no nursing necessary. no pool to clean. no dog to walk and feed and train. there is another person for each of those other tasks. i find it simply amazing what the moms and dads of our society are willing to accomplish with no pay and no regular praise or feedback. it's an amazing influence that children have on their adults.
