the parents of harrison bourne got a letter from butler elementary. it told us that harrison is missing a hepatitis A shot from his list of required immunizations. oh dear. ya see, the thing is that i promised harrison back in august that he was finished with shots. he had a horrible time with the last shots -- had to have 4 at once and one of them was HUGE and very painful. he cried and freaked. he had nightmares. he thought the shot-people would come in our house and ambush him. at any rate, i had to seriously swear on my life that he was done with the kindergarten shots. i truly believed he was...
when i told him the bad news, he ran to his room and barricaded me out. he told me he hated me.
we finally talked through his closed door.
plan a: go to the clinic, get the shot, come home (um, no)
plan b: take some ibuprofen, go to the clinic, get the shot (door cracks open)
plan c: (harrison requested 0 pain) knock harrison out with a baseball bat, drag him to the clinic (harrison actually laughed thru the tears at this one)
plan d: take the baseball bat to the clinic, use it on any nurse with a needle in hand (harrison emerges fully, chuckling)
plan e: dress sadi up like harrison, take her to the clinic (he's looking for a shirt...wait, the shirt'll get too hairy)
plan f: take the ibuprofen, get the shot, get the hell out of the clinic, go to chuck e cheese's for dinner, go to game crazy for a new xbox game
ok, he fell for it and he survived! he sat on my lap and prepared to cry but never did. one skinny shot happened but he was mentally prepared (for the last 6 months) for 4 HUGE shots. it didn't even phase him. he said it hurt to a 2. as we were leaving the clinic harrison said, "i am never going to anymore shot stores with you."
and he currently hates me to a 1. he says if he gets to hit me in the face with a cushion, the hate drops to a 0. i can live with that.

this is so funny. you forgot plan g: forget the shots and homeschool harrison...but then he'd end up hating you even more.
harrison is the only kid i know who gives eyerolls as much as i do. it's a classic movie, and he is very lucky to know this at such an early age.
