bless the smart people

I am working right now and trying to explain something about numbers being right in a row, i.e. 1,2,3,4,5... I knew there was a concise, one-word description for this scenario but I could not think of it. All I could come up with was "simultaneous." All of my people started coming to mind. I was going to call Alecia but I didn't know what time she was presenting thesis. I tried to call Dad but no answer. Kent just left. Britt's at work. Angie is who knows where. Bryce is driving by some mountain that I don't recognize. Mom's in kindergarten. Ally is always busy at work. Curt! Curt won't be at work! I dialed Curt. Surprisingly, he was driving to work but probably only because it's Friday and he will leave really early ;)

Aimee: what do you call it when numbers are right in a row, like 4 then 5?

Curt (thinking): she could't be looking for something as simple as "sequential", could she???!
Curt (outloud): sequential

Aimee: that's it!!!! you are a genius!

Curt: Richfield sucking your intelligence out, Aim?

When I finally talked to her, I said, isn't it "consecutive"? She just laughed at me and said no. So, we decided it was a good thing she didn't call me!

I had to look it up:
consecutive
1. following one another in uninterrupted succession or order; successive: six consecutive numbers, such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

ha! "[i] do have a brain!"

vs.

sequential
1. Forming or characterized by a sequence, as of units or musical notes.
